Commemorative Battle Coins

USS North Dakota Coin
First Commemorative Coin Lands at Chamber
The first in a series of four USS North Dakota coins is now available for purchase and pick-up

The Chamber along with the USS North Dakota steering committee is excited to announce the arrival of the first USS North Dakota coins.

The first coin in the series, which depicts a Virginia Class submarine with the North Dakota flag flying in the background on the front and the original USS North Dakota battleship crest on the back, was received by the Chamber this week.

"There's been a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding the first coin," said Kelvin Hullet, Chamber President. "After untying the first navy blue poly bag the coins came it, I'm confident that these coins are sure to please those who have already purchased them and those who have yet to get one."

The public is invited to purchase the commemorative coins. Orders for the coins will be processed through the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce, located at 1640 Burnt Boat Drive in Bismarck. All proceeds from the sales will support activities related to the USS North Dakota.

Two different metals will be minted for each milestone and both are of limited quantity. Fifty, fine-silver coins that contain one troy ounce of .999 fine silver will be available, along with 1,500 verbronze coins. The silver coins will sell for $100 and the verbronze coins for $20. Proceeds will be utilized by the Chamber to support activities related to the submarine.

Four coins will be produced over the course of the submarine's building cycle, which is expected to last through 2014 when the tentative commissioning is scheduled.
