Mike Frohlich (D)

1. North Dakota will be a leader in global energy policy. We will lead in developing cleaner and more efficient power including green technologies as well as traditional natural resources. My vision for ND includes a strong economy bolstered by policies that make us attractive for small business and for our youth.
2. I have held positions in a variety of fields, from construction, management, small business owner, state government and more. I am intelligent and hard working. I have a passion to make ND better for my son.
3. To address the immediate infrastructure needs we have in the state. Across the state citizens are pleading for help with flood control projects and roads that are falling apart. It will be a challenge to address these needs, prioritize them and determine how to bolster the infrastructure.
4. ND is poised to take the lead in energy development and move that power to markets outside our region. The budget surplus we currently have will provide a great opportunity to make education funding sustainable, and have a permanent property tax relief package. With a strong economic climate and increased incentives for small business, ND has an opportunity to turn the tide on out-migration of our youth.
5. I am the Multimedia/Web Manager for the State Historical Society of North Dakota. My job duties include managing the social media presence of the history agency. I have presented numerous sessions at history conferences on how to develop and deploy social media tools effectively. I think social media will be a key tool in communication.

Bob Martinson (R)

1. North Dakota will increase its visibility as an energy production and research state. Bismarck will continue to grow as the center of energy development in North Dakota.
2. My business and legislative experience.
3. Properly managing our large budget surplus will require careful consideration and discussion. We should return surplus dollars to taxpayers, save the extra money or do one time projects which will benefit all citizens of ND, such as last session's appropriation for the expansion of the Heritage Center. I believe we need to change our focus on economic development and put greater emphasis on expanding businesses already located in ND and to provide more assistance to aggressive and growing ND companies.
4. Bismarck State, through the National Energy Center, has the opportunity to grow and expand in the areas of wind, coal, oil, natural gas and other forms of energy development, education and research. BSC President Skogen is a man of rare vision and ability and we need to support his dynamic ideas for the future of BSC. Fr. James Shea, U-Mary President, also has unique ability and vision. With the leadership of these two presidents, Bismarck will become the higher education center of western North Dakota.
5. The internet and email are very important in my business. Facebook, U-Tube, Twitter and other forms of social media are all very exciting. I do not use them in my business but they are fun to play with.

1. My vision is to maintain all of the qualities that make North Dakota remarkable while capitalizing on the potential for North Dakota to improve. I want more young people to be able to find quality jobs without leaving. I want folks who move here to be able to find a place to live. And I want the next generation to have the best opportunities North Dakota can provide.
2. I have been a resident of Bismarck most of my life. With my love of politics and dedication to service, I will bring a strong and distinct perspective to the vital issues our state faces.
3. The biggest challenge for the next legislative session will be the need for concentrated effort on so many vital issues, such as finding housing for the oil workers in the west and using the surplus in a way that will assure the best future for our state.
4. All challenges are potential opportunities. With a new, vibrant group of leaders, the problems we face now will be used to move us forward and make us stronger for having overcome the setback.
5. Social media is a great tool that brings the world together. When in Peace Corps, I shared picture of my students with my family & friends back here in North Dakota, while sharing our great state with my village. Like all tools, it needs be used wisely and with adult supervision, but used correctly, social media has huge potential to enrich lives and bring people closer.

1. North Dakota is being recognized for its energy resources and overall quality of life. We will continue to be a beacon for the nation as long as we focus on lower taxes, sustainable economic development and on adequately meeting our infrastructure needs.
2. I have lived in District 35 for more that 30 years. I appreciate the needs of the small business person. I think I have shown the people in District 35 that I take the honor and responsibility of serving them in the legislature very seriously and I work hard for them.
3. ND is reaping the benefits of carefully managed development. We must administer these revenues and address the needs of our infrastructure so that the steady advancement of North Dakota, its economy and its people does not fall prey to whims of imprudent spending that have proven to be the downfall of so many other states.
4. While allowing ND to utilize expanded financial resources to catch up on some basic infrastructure shortfalls (human and material), the state must be prudent and set aside an appropriate reserve for future generations, while making sure that the tax structure allows today's citizens to keep as much of their own money as possible.
5. Social media allows us to network with business associates and to communicate with family and friends. It also creates a danger of identity theft. Social networking sites have become commonplace in our daily lives and should be used with discretion.
