The following Board members started their term Jan. 1, 2010 and will exit the Board Dec. 31, 2012.

Barb Aasen, Eide Bailly
Barb serves as partner-in-charge of the Bismarck office of Eide Bailly LLP, a regional public accounting and business advisory firm. She has been a Chamber board member for the past three years.
"Because so many of Eide Bailly's clients are members of the Chamber, I can bring trends and business issues they are facing to the board, and use these as opportunities to address what's affecting the business community as a whole."
In her final year, Barb looks forward to improving member benefits and participation.

Craig Larson, Starion Financial
Craig Larson, president and CEO of Starion Financial, joined the Chamber Board of Directors in January 2010. According to Craig, inclusion on the board, "Provides me the opportunity to more actively participate in the Bismarck-Mandan business community; and hopefully make a positive diff erence in the local economy."
Over the next three years, he hopes to provide input on issues facing the Chamber, continue advancing the local business climate, and to ensure that Bismarck-Mandan remains a great place to live and work.

Jeff Essler, HIT, Inc.
Jeff Essler is the chief operating officer for HIT, Inc. As the COO, Jeff provides leadership and management across the company, but particularly to the developmental disability realm. His responsibilities includes fiscal, human resource, quality of service, and strategic oversight across HIT.
"I enjoy being involved with the Chamber and the association with the other board members and the staff at the Chamber. The economic climate and setting we provide for businesses in Bismarck-Mandan is extremely important," said Jeff.
Jeff's passion for grassroots efforts are an asset to the Chamber board. Through that avenue, he hopes to create change that paves the way for the wise use of resources. All in an effort to increase quality and efficiency.
"My membership on the board allows for my experiences in business, both for profit and non-profit, to be shared with other businesses. My job as a board member is to provide that leadership to the Chamber so proper decisions are made for the short- and long-term health of the organization. During his board service, Jeff wants to continue finding the right course of action for both small and large issues that affect us all in Bismarck-Mandan.

Terry Kraft, American Family Insurance
Terry owns an American Family Insurance agency in Mandan. He is in his 26th year of business for the Fortune 500 Company that carries "All Your Insurance Under One Roof." Kraft has been a board member for two years.
"My hope is that I can bring to the board the issues and concerns of other small business owners like myself."

Molly Barnes, Northern Improvement
Northern Improvement Company VP/Equipment Manager Molly Barnes has been serving on the Chamber board for the past nine months. According to Molly, her experience at work and via outside endeavors enables her to "...bring some new ideas and offer an equitable opinion to the issues we [the board] address."
"I am honored to have even been considered for the Chamber Board. It has been exciting for me to get more involved in the business community outside of Northern Improvement, "she said.
In the year ahead, Molly hopes to keep the Chamber moving forward effectively and efficiently for the business community.

Shannon McQuade-Ely, McQuade Distributing
Shannon is president and third generation owner of McQuade Distributing Co., Inc., a beer wholesaler, established in 1947 by her grandfather, Sam McQuade Sr. This is Shannon's fourth year on the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber Board.
"Membership to the Chamber and my presence on the board is a vital part of doing business in our community. We are a small to medium sized company and the Chamber is a voice for us. The Chamber has been a major part of why the Bismarck-Mandan business community has remained prosperous in these tough economic times, and why companies like ours can stay in business for years and years."

Norm Clark, Gate City Bank Norm is the vice president of Gate City Bank, where he serves as office manager for the Mandan and Bismarck Country West locations.
According to Norm, board membership gives him the opportunity to assist in the positive growth of the Bismarck-Mandan community. He appreciates the opportunity to serve not only from a business and entrepreneur aspect, but to be involved with the legislative and political aspects of our market as well.
"I am very much a team-individual and love to brainstorm and problem solve in a group atmosphere. I believe that I can bring forward ideas and issues to the board from members in a manner that will allow the board to make educated decisions for the good of our community," he said.
Norm looks forward to continued growth in the business community. He wants to develop a better working relationship between Mandan and Bismarck in regard to joint and individual projects.
"I believe as a whole community we have a lot more to offer companies both nation- and worldwide," he says. "At the same time, both cities have strengths which cannot be lost in the big picture."

Karen Johner, North Dakota Guaranty & Title
Karen has served as a Chamber board member for three years. According to Karen, "Serving on the board allows us [board members] to be connected to the best business network and also keeps us up-to-date on local, state and federal issues and decisions, which may affect our business."
During her final year, she looks forward to working with the Chamber and the City of Mandan to implement the strategic plan "Mandan Tomorrow."
